So, we spent a bunch of time at the Legislature under the covered balcony.  Unfortunately, there was a wasp that also was hanging around us and stung Stephanie right in her armpit!!!  I felt so bad for Steph…..but she was a trooper…..high spirits all day, despite being stung by a wasp!!

The reception took place at Hotel Ft.Garry, and the day was coordinated by Soire Event Planning.

Haley & Jordan have a really cool history together.  The long and the short of it is that their families go way back, and Haley & Jordan actually were flower girl and ringbearer in a wedding when they were just kids.  How cool is that?

Haley bought her gorgeous dress at Kleinfeld in New York City.  And, if you watch “Say Yes to the Dress” at all, you will likely see Haley on the show in an upcoming episode!

Being that the weather was not cooperating at all for us, we did quite a bit of shooting inside Haley’s family home.  Now, this home is ultra cool – it has this super awesome retro decorating that made for some very unique shots.

Driving up to the house, here’s the view.  You might think that the white tent was the entire setup for the wedding….and if you’re thinking that, you’re dead wrong.  That white tent was only the ceremony tent, as backup in case of bad weather.  There was a second tent out back, along with multiple cocktail bars for guests to indulge in.

Here is the back yard of the family home.  Now, imagine for a moment that none of this landscaping existed…..that there was only grass and trees.  All of this landscaping is brand new, and a few weeks ago the entire back yard was ONLY GRASS!  I was mighty impressed!!

Here’s a shot of the backyard from another angle.  The pool is brand spankin new too!!

The entire day was coordinated by Events by Emma, and she definitely did NOT disappoint!  Emma is a miracle worker, and every wedding that I shoot of hers is amazing.  Floral was provided by Flowers R US, and catering was provided by Pine Ridge Hollow…..all among the best providers in the province.  Here’s a few shots of the reception tent.

The weather on Saturday was definitely less than cooperative.  The entire shoot took place at the home, and we were constantly fighting heavy winds and rain.  Good thing that everyone was so easy going, and went with the flow – it made for some good times

It’s always fun to see when the couple is excited and they rock their way into the grand entrance.  Haley & Jordan – you were awesome, and I had a blast working with you.  Check back tomorrow for more shots from the rest of the day!

How lucky am I to actually have the opportunity to work with Ashley and Ben TWO TIMES in less than a month!!!

If you follow my blog, you may remember that I photographed Ashley and Ben’s wedding in Florence, Italy.  The wedding on Friday was for the Manitoba friends and family that couldn’t make it to Italy.

Ashley’s parents have a farm out in Gilbert Plains, so that’s where the celebration took place.  It was so much fun seeing how different the feel of the wedding was in Gilbert Plains as compared to Florence, Italy – and how BOTH versions of the wedding were outstanding!

Ashley & Ben – thank you so much for having me be a part of your two weddings.  It has been such an honor to work with you, and I can’t wait until the next time!!

Ashley’s Dad has a collection of classic cars, which made for some awesome props.  One day maybe I’ll be lucky enough to photograph ALL of the cars (including the Dart that is currently ripped apart and being restored) – he’s done such an amazing job at restoring them.

Ceremony and Reception: Pineridge Hollow

Proposal Story:

We originally met through mutual friends. Our first date was at a café on Corydon, and we dated for five years. Then one morning in October of 2006, Dale received a call that would forever change our lives. He had finally been accepted into the RCMP and would be leaving Manitoba for six months of training in Saskatchewan. Dale shared the news with me over the phone. I was so proud of him. Later that night I returned home after a long week. I wanted nothing more but to stay home and relax but Dale was adamant about going out. Finally, I gave in and we went for coffee. Shortly after, I suggested going home to watch a movie; Dale insisted on walking around. We continued to stroll down Corydon, passing the spot where we shared our first cup of coffee. We were almost at the car, when Dale pulled me aside, got down on one knee and proposed. What a great start to a wonderful weekend and a fabulous life together!

Tell us a bit about your dream day:

Our wedding day was truly a dream come true, and there were so many people who had a hand in making it a reality. The night before, my bridesmaids and I stayed at the Inn at the Forks. We woke up early and got ready in our hotel room, while the boys got ready at home. I felt so relaxed and relieved that the weather decided to cooperate. Our pictures were taken before our ceremony, which was a great idea! We got to spend the whole day with each other, our wedding party, and our wonderful photographer. We had such a blast!

Later in the afternoon, we arrived at Pineridge Hollow. I cannot put into words how I felt when we pulled up in our limousine, to see everything and everyone come together. Dale’s godmother graciously accepted to be our officiant for the ceremony. It was such an honour to have someone we know deliver a beautiful ceremony. After that, it was time to relax and enjoy the evening! We ate an exceptionally delicious dinner followed by a dessert buffet and cupcakes later in the evening. Pineridge Hollow went out of their way to make sure everything was absolutely perfect! Dale and I felt so blessed to have so many of our closest family members and friends there to share our special day in such beautiful surroundings.

What was the best decision you made when planning your wedding?

One of the best decisions we made together was choosing the right people to work with—people who shared our vision. It was so rewarding to work with those who wanted to be a part of our special day.

What was the most beautiful moment of your day?

Some of our favourite moments were seeing each other for the first time, sharing our first kiss as husband and wife, and having pictures taken, but perhaps the most beautiful thing was having all our family and friends share this special day with us.

What was the best advice that you were given during planning your day?

Out of all the advice, the best we received was to communicate, communicate, communicate and organize, organize, organize!

What was the one thing that created the most stress for you during your planning?

I wanted to include Dale in as many decisions as possible. After all, it was our wedding day. Perhaps one of the things that created the most stress was living in two different provinces. Our telephone companies sure loved us!

What words of advice would you pass on to couples planning their wedding?

Remember you are not only planning for one day, but more importantly, for the rest of your lives together. Instead of getting caught up in the stress of making things “perfect” for that one day, focus on making things great for the rest of your lives together.
