Sometimes things are just meant to be…

I think this is a really cool story!  Last week, I posted about a bench in Gimli that I’ve photographed a few times with wedding couples (click here to be directed to that post).  The bench has a carving in it saying “Will you marry me?

The story and photos that I posted were about the actual couple who are responsible for the engraving.  Here’s an excerpt from LD’s message to me: “I’m glad that other couples are getting to enjoy what is truly a special spot for my fiance and I. He actually asked me to our grade 12 grad by carving “will you go to grad with me” in a picnic table at Kildonan Park so I guess it was only fitting that he propose in the same manner hehe it was perfect and I would cut that piece of bench out and hang it on my wall if I could:)

Today I ended up stopping in Gimli for a short while, and was walking right by the RED DOCK with the bench.  My jaw dropped as I saw the scene in the picture below……they were tearing it apart!!!

I immediately thought of LD’s comment “I would cut that piece of bench out and hang it on my wall if I could“, and ran over to see if I could find the piece of the bench for her.

Well, I found it!!  The workers thought I was kinda strange for asking if I could take this piece of red wood, but they let me take it away:-)

So, LD and ST…..you don’t need to worry about getting caught vandalizing a bench!  I have the piece for you here, and you can pick it up whenever you want!   I hope you make good use of it, and I’d love to see how you put it to use!!

I guess some things are just  meant to be.  When I woke up, I didn’t have any plans to be in Gimli today….it just kinda happened last minute.  I’m sure happy that it worked out this way!!
